MAINTAINING A WORLD-CLASS EDUCATION

The Northwestern Parents' Fund helps to maintain the world-class education enjoyed by your son or daughter at Northwestern. Undergraduate students benefit from a great range of academic choices and opportunities from doing research alongside renowned professors to studying around the globe.

WHAT THE PARENTS' FUND SUPPORTS

As part of the Northwestern Annual Fund, which supports areas of greatest need across campus, the Parents' Fund enriches the undergraduate schools, scholarships, student life, athletics, University Library, the Block Museum of Art, as well as other areas. It supports virtually every aspect of the academic and extracurricular experiences of undergraduates, including:

  • development of cutting-edge academic curricula
  • recruitment and retention of world-class faculty
  • need-blind scholarship assistance
  • real-world internships
  • new equipment
  • research opportunities across schools and majors
  • the newest technology for classrooms and laboratories
  • renovation of student residences and other student gathering spaces

WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED

While the price of attending Northwestern is substantial, tuition covers only about one-third of the actual cost of educating undergraduate students. The University's endowment makes up part of the balance, but additional support is still needed. This support comes from alumni, parents, and friends of the University.

Each year, 2,700 families contribute more than $1.7 million to the Parents' Fund with gifts ranging from $100 to $250,000. You may direct your gift to Parents' Fund Unrestricted which is allocated at the discretion of the University President, to your child's undergraduate schools, or to any other Annual Fund within the university.
