Matching Gifts through Employers
You may increase the impact of your gift dramatically if your company will match your gift. Matching gifts can increase your gift by a ratio of 1:1, 2:1, or even 3:1. Follow the link below to find out if your company has a matching gift program. You will find contact information and instructions for the process at your company.
Gift Designations
Most company contributions follow the designation of the original gift. Please note, however, that many companies do have restrictions. Some companies only match unrestricted funds (University Unrestricted and school annual funds would meet this qualification). Some companies do not match gifts to athletics or fraternal organizations.
Leadership Recognition
Matching gifts will qualify you for giving society membership. In order to receive Northwestern University Leadership Circle credit for matching gifts, documentation or your claim must be received in the same fiscal year as the originating gift.** Since companies pay out matching monies on different cycles, actual receipt of your company’s matching gift money is not required to receive credit.
**Northwestern University’s fiscal year runs from September 1 through August 31.
