Posted on Wednesday, May 27, 2015

charles katzenmeyer As the inaugural chair of NU Loyal, the University’s giving society that recognizes donors who make gifts to Northwestern in consecutive years, I am honored to introduce this issue of our NU Loyal newsletter.

Like many alumni, I am enormously grateful for the education I received at Northwestern, where I began a fulfilling career in nonprofit management. As vice president for institutional advancement at Chicago’s Field Museum, I understand the importance of loyal donors to the vibrancy of any organization. And I benefit each day in my professional life from the lessons I learned at Northwestern.

One of the great universities of the world, Northwestern continues to evolve. It’s rewarding for our community to evolve along with it. While my annual gift isn’t staggeringly large, I enjoy investing it across the University—in the graduate programs in global health and nonprofit management, the library, and my fraternity.

You may wonder if your gift makes a difference to an institution of Northwestern’s size and caliber. The answer is an unequivocal yes. Fundraising efforts like We Will. The Campaign for Northwestern succeed only through the collective generosity of thousands. NU Loyal members like you recognize the value and significance of giving every year, fueling the momentum that will advance the University.

During the “We Will” Campaign, we aim to have 141,000 donors make gifts and see NU Loyal membership reach 40,000. We now have 32,920 members ranging across all class years, schools, and professions. Many of us are proud platinum members who have given to the University for more than 20 consecutive years. See who has joined NU Loyal this year on the NU Loyal Honor Roll.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication. Thank you for being NU Loyal.

With gratitude,
