Where Cancer Lurks,” a story published in Northwestern Magazine about exciting new research to detect and treat common cancers in their earliest phases, features Professors Vadim Backman and Allen Taflove ’71, ’72 MS, ’75 PhD.

Taflove is a professor of electrical and computer engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering, where he earned his three degrees. He and his wife, Sylvia, are platinum-level members of NU Loyal who have made gifts for more than 20 consecutive years, supporting the McCormick Annual Fund, Fiedler Hillel Center, and scholarships. “Giving is a way to express my appreciation for my own experiences as a student here and my thanks for starting me off in what became my life’s work,” he says.

Taflove is proud to be a partner (since 2003) in Backman’s pioneering research, which has the potential to generate a broad-spectrum therapy for seven types of deadly cancer. Read the article.
