When fall classes began, Northwestern welcomed thousands of talented first-year students with diverse backgrounds, skills, and interests. Last month, we also celebrated when Northwestern Professor Sir Fraser Stoddart was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The continued success of our faculty and students is a testament to the impact your gifts have on Northwestern’s campuses. Your commitment, year after year, helps fuel the University’s innovation and success, ensuring that a Northwestern education remains not only exceptional but accessible to academically qualified students, no matter their economic background.
Thank you for creating a bright future for Northwestern. A strong community shares your commitment. More than 121,000 donors have made gifts during We Will. The Campaign for Northwestern—a wonderful show of support from alumni, parents, and friends of the University. NU Loyal—Northwestern’s giving society honoring consecutive annual donors—is more robust than ever, with thousands of new members joining in the past year. This newsletter celebrates our community—and your role in making Northwestern so remarkable.
One of my favorite things about being a Northwestern donor is the opportunity to support multiple areas of the University. Whether you decide to support the University Libraries and the Global Health Initiative as I do, or Feinberg School of Medicine and student groups as do Josh and Seth Cohen (both ’02, ’07 MD), or any other area, Northwestern offers hundreds of areas worthy of your gift. Every one of them matters, and every gift makes a difference.
We have a dynamic year ahead, and I hope you share my enthusiasm about NU Loyal’s growth and impact.
With appreciation,

Charles L. Katzenmeyer ’85, ’89 MBA
Chair, NU Loyal
